Details:
Musician Lex Romane is pleased to announce the release of his first solo Cd, entitled "Diggin' Dusty Diamonds"-Songs from the Coal Mines. Lex has been a musician for forty years and has been part of the duo "Lex & Joe". They have three independently produced CDs. "Lex & Joe" have opened for Leon Redbone and BB King to name a few.
Lex grew up in the coal mine region of northeastern Pennsylvania and has always had an interest in the local history there.
Of the fourteen songs on the CD, six are original and the others are either famous songs like, "Sixteen Tons" and "Coal Tattoo" or more obscure like, "Hard Working Miner" and "Last Train from Poor Valley". Two of the original songs are based on actual events. "The Knox Coal Mine Disaster" is a song that deals with tragedy and the end of deep mining in the Wyoming Valley area of Pennsylvania. Another song tells the story of a man who is framed for a murder he did not commit-"The Mark of Alec Campbell". There are two rollicking bluegrass numbers-"Coaltown Blues", a Lex original and Miner's Prayer a song written by country artist Dwight Yoakam.
Lex has assembled a stable of fine musicians to back him up on this project. Budding folk star, Joyce Andersen plays fiddle, bluesman extrodinare, Jon Ross plays mandolin, bass and acoustic guitar. Other musicians contributing are Rick Watson on mandolin and backing vocals, Chris Pandolfi on banjo, Zach Hickman on acoustic bass, Roger Williams on Dobro, Bruce Derr on Pedal Steel guitar and Carl Pehrsson on Accordian.
