Ronan Baker's sound can be described in one word -- Epic. His songs tell a story, using the lyrics to produce images and solid Indie rhythm to capture raw human emotion. Ronan takes an unusual yet exciting approach to music, leaving behind not only good music, but also a historical legacy. Born in Modesto, California, Ronan got his start at 16 playing the guitar, singing in choir and writing his own original songs. Currently attending Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR, Ronan continues his musical education, studying audio engineering. His sincere honesty coupled with a knack for learning and experimentation makes Ronan a unique musical talent. He prides himself on great lyrics, profound messages and beautifully composed melodies. The singer/songwriter employs a rarely used 'slap harmonic' technique in which he hits the guitar strings with the tips of his fingers, producing harmonics. Ronan is well known for performing his own style of acoustic and piano rock and also for his interesting piano driven versions of famous songs by artists such as Johnny Cash, Brand New, and Damien Rice. People often comment on his ability to create the sound of a whole band by himself because he often creates loops of himself when performing live. Ronan is an avid movie buff and believes that films have directly influenced his music by inspiring him to tell stories through his songs. Ronan's inventive elements in conjunction with a cool, confident voice really set his sound a part. Unique to his act is Ronan's ability to create a band-like sound playing every instrument himself. Ronan has performed his music live at numerous coffee shops and small venues throughout Oregon. He has shared the stage with Indie star Trevor Davis at his CD debut with Mirth Records in Salem, OR. He has put on shows at Western Oregon University, the Oregon State Fair, Northwest Christian College and at the Hawthorne Theater in Portland.
