Alright so here's my story - I was exposed to music at a really young age. My dad's car was loaded with old Beach Boys cassettes, and my mom's with Israeli folk music. My brothers and I loved to sing and perform. Somewhere along the way I became fascinated with rhythm. I used to rummage through my mom's kitchenware and grab all sorts of pots and pans to bang on. My younger brother and I later went on to performing on Main Street in Huntington Beach. We called ourselves the Pacific Rhythm Kings. We banged on all sorts of buckets, pots, car tires, water jugs and bongo drums. We had an entire routine and hundreds would crowd around us.
A couple of years out of college, I made the big move to Hawaii, to the beautiful island of Maui. The lifestyle out here has been nothing but inspiring. Everything from surfing to sailing to hiking to jumping off waterfalls - we really have it all, and I am so blessed to be out here. As soon as I stepped foot on Maui, I picked up the ukulele. I used my percussive background to help catch on to the Hawaiian style strum, and added a little flavor of my own. Jamming on the uke and singing songs is something that came really natural to me...and the rest is history.
For some people, playing the guitar is their ultimate passion. Playing the ukulele is definately not my passion, but rather a means of showing what I am passionate about. My music tells stories of my travels around the world, surf trips to baja with my brothers, sailing around, and getting into crazy adventures out here on Maui, my playground. These are my passions. But there's more to it than just the stories. There's a message, a vibe, a feeling that you get with this music. There's some kind of energy that is ignited that literally puts a smile to your face and reminds us all how beatiful this world really is. And it feels so good. This is life. This is what we have. This is what we do. We might as well be stoked while we're living. This aint no secret. Spread the word. Spread the love. Spread the music. Spread the Aloha. Enjoy!!
