I had to know why my situation never improved. I had to know why no matter how hard I tried I kept coming back to the same place and problems. I had to know why my life seemed like so much less than it should be. I had to know why... I prayed. I fasted. I pursued knowledge like my life depended on it because, frankly, it does. I asked God to reveal to me what part, big or small, I have played in my own mess.
Slowly, revelation after revelation about who I am and who I am not was made plain to me. I began to write letters to myself; angry letters. And I saw no need to mince any words because it was just me trying to talk some sense into me. It was me calling myself out from behind all the smoke and mirrors so I could finally see me for who I really am; and who I am not. So I began to talk to me. And I love me so my words are passionate and understanding. But I was also disgusted with me so, at the same time, my words are scathing and unapologetic.
The letters I wrote to myself were private conversations with me, by me, for me. The CD project that was formed from those letters is for both me and you. Now, don't misunderstand me, I don't believe for a minute that I have any answers for what ails me or you. But I do know that if we are ever going to cure what's wrong with us, we have to first face what's wrong with us.
God helped me by showing me who I am. And, even as I continue to evolve and address my own issues, I am created in such a way that I am required and destined to share that same clarity. Because at this point I don't have the answers we need, just the clarity. And I do know our destiny is calling. Maybe I can help us both. The journey awaits you.
