Details:
LITTLE MISS MESSY is a War of the Worlds: east meets west, boy meets girl, sound meets fury. Echoes of Olympia, Washington - less anger, more girl. This female-fronted band was born when musicians from both coasts collided in the alluring tobacco fields of Durham, North Carolina. The result? An amalgam of pop-rock, vestiges of west-coast grunge, and lilting lyricism, coupled with hints of bluesy guitar riffs.

For their debut album, BORING STORIES FOR NAUGHTY CHILDREN, set to release May 10, 2003, Little Miss Messy paired up with legendary producer Mitch Easter (REM, Pavement). The album comes at the close of a dynamic few months for LMM, who signed with indie label Dalloway Records in January 2003.

LITTLE MISS MESSY'S sonic diversity reflects the background of its members. Bass player Dave Carey is a former punk-rocker and self-proclaimed jazz enthusiast from New York. He and drummer Drew Remaley, also a veteran east coast musician, have called Raleigh's music scene home for several years. Their collaboration with guitarist Dan Hill and singer Carlotta Valdez, however, has given their decidedly east coast project a new western flavor. Both Dan and Carlotta are recovering grungeaholics from that mecca of all west coast meccas, Seattle, in addition to sharing a passion for STP and Hammerbox. Prior to his North Carolina invasion, Hill played in several college indie-pop bands in the Portland area, including The Atomic Swerve. Miss Valdez, on the other hand, is recuperating from a career as a concert pianist, a pursuit she discovered was much like digging ditches, but paid less.
