Curt McNeal (from late 90s Florida band Nel Aspinal) has written a healthy batch of tunes that oozes the words indie rock. Yup, bands like this were a dime a dozen in the mid-90s but that well dried up (thank god) and folks either got married, went corporate or died of drug overdoses. I'm glad McNeal is still among the living and tunes like Sunday Rollaway , Good Scents or the very Brit-sounding Wily Tornado are definitely going to be on my next batch of mix tapes so how bout that. ( www.snowgloberecords.com ) The Indie Pages: they play enjoyable and easy-going (and sometimes even playful, if you include the occasional southern-rock styled guitar ) that evokes early Luna and Pavement Xtian: Shimmering dreamy pop, very clean and clear, with laidback sounding vocals. Its not overwhelmingly catchy, but nice and friendly to listen to. Like something very familiar.
