Details:
Loops is a multi-faceted group, based around electric guitar, drum kit and electric bass. The trio is occasionally augmented by other musicians, as occurs on this C.D. and in many of our concerts. Our style has been described as "jazz-rock fusion with an Indian flavour".

The group was established upon Jonathan Dimond's return to Australia from overseas study in 1995. We had our debut performance in the Music Arts Club's "Pinnacles" Festival in early 1996. We have appeared in other Brisbane Festivals since that time, including the official launch of the International Brisbane Festival 1998. We were also state finalists in the ABC's Improv Awards 1999. In 2000 Loops toured Australia, performing at the Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Bennetts Lane, for the Sydney Improvised Music Association and other organizations. We also were the house band for a season of the Out Of The Box's early childhood production of "Wide Awake", at the Queensland Performing Arts Complex (as part of the Brisbane Festival). In 2000 and 2001 we were Ensemble in Residence at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University. In 2001 we produced a concert of improvised movie sound-tracks, and performances of an original show we co-wrote entitled "Airwaves: 100 years of radio" in collaboration with the contemporary classical group "Topology", at the Queensland Biennial Festival of Music. In September 2001 we released our second CD "Ek!" (a double album). In 2002 Loops toured interstate promoting "Ek!" and "Airwaves". We are currently producing a CD of "Airwaves".

Loops' repertoire features original compositions by the ensemble members, Indian-Jazz-Rock fusion, and standard-repertoire jazz with a modern 'twist'.
