To get a feel for Loren's music, take two or three parts Jimmy Buffett-style laid-back tropicana, one part each of Gordon Lightfoot, John Prine, Jim Croce, and that guy in pirate shirt and tights whom you saw singing for ale last weekend at the local Renaissance festival, and mix well. Garnish with humor and irony, experience and imagination. Serve in a tall glass with lots of ice and a minature parasol on the end of a toothpick. Enjoy it on the warm, tropical beaches and in the cool, green forests of your mind.

Loren's songs tell stories, tales of romance, of the ironic and the fantastic. His melodic voice captures your imagination and takes it soaring between the worlds, between joy and sadness, laughter and despair, magic and mundanity. His songs are poetic, speaking from his heart and spirit. His guitar playing and arrangements are the perfect completion to each song.

Loren's musical influences range from Jimmy Buffett to Jim Morrison, from John Prine to Pete Seeger and Lord Buckley. His original music is in a style that he calls "contemporary folk music with tropical attitude," songs that go well with a comfortable hammock and a parasol drink, and occasionally take you just a bit further and deeper.

He grew up in Rutland VT and Schenectady NY, playing keyboards and rhythm guitar for garage bands in high school, and singing medieval ballads and sea shanties while attending college in Rochester NY and southern CA. As a songwriter, he has long since left behind the embarassing songs of his youth and is now learning to embarrass himself and others in new and creative ways.

Loren currently lives, works, and plays near the shores of the San Francisco Bay. Songs From My Heart is his first album.
