Description:

(ID 432489)
The songs on this CD are an unusual blend of 60 smooth jazz and 40 movie themes. We like to call
it lyrical jazz. Jazz with a readily recognizable
melody.

JAZZ: Smooth Jazz, EASY LISTENING: Background Music

Details:
At age 9 Gary was seen scanning the floor at band practice searching for the keys that had just fallen from the metal clarinet while pretending to play. By age 12 he was playing professionally in local bands. With high school came the all county band, all state band, jazz workshops at the Wilmington music school, jobs with local rock and society bands and a pick up musician for bands traveling through the area including the Tommy Dorsey (fronted by Warren Covington) and Glen Miller (fronted by Ray McKinley) bands. He was given the rare opportunity to study with Robert Lowery, a wonderful teacher who taught a number of great jazz musicians including Clifford Brown, Lem Winchester and Ernie Watts.

After that a year at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore studying with Keith Kummer, the principal oboist with the Baltimore symphony. Then a three year tour of duty with the army band. After the army Gary headed to Las Vegas where he played and conducted in the showrooms and lounges. Currently residing in Oregon, Gary has taken up the challenge of producing his own music with the aid of the electronic music revolution, attempting to preserve the accoustic background he experienced for so many years. Hope you enjoy the music.
