Oliart

Oliart is an acoustic guitar and percussion duo that combines funk, blues, rock, reggae, Latin and Indian music into a sound they call "Alternative Soul." The players - Luis Oliart and Eddie Drayton - have developed unique instrumental techniques that create Oliart's identity.

Luis Oliart is a native of southern California. An energetic, original artist whose talents include songwriting, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, vocals and harmonica, Luis' unique heritage comes from his New York-born Italian mother and Peruvian father. Luis recently toured through Europe as a solo artist.

Eddie Drayton is originally from New Jersey. He has lived in Los Angeles since 1988. An innovative percussionist, Eddie's diverse musical background came from the cultural melting pot of the East Coast. His skill and experience in a broad range of musical styles has enabled him to perform with the likes of Ivan Neville, David Rudder, Rick James, and Jeff Kashiwa.

Oliart's lyrics are captivating and fresh. Their melodies, enchanting and memorable. Corona Beer selected Oliart's single "Father Freedom" for its "Sound Waves Tour 2000 and 2001" campaign and a national radio commercial.

The duo was featured on Inside the Industry -The Songwriter-a television program, coverging breaking-through artistic performers.

Oliart was invited to perform at The Special Olympics Golf Tournament hosted by Cheech Marin and Joe Mantegna. The duo was featured on LA's KPFK 90.7 Arts in Review radio show. Oliart has also performed at LA's House of Blues, BB King's, and Hard Rock Café. They are currently working with V'tility Records, an Indie Label out of LA.
