Magnifier
Genre: Pop/Rock (Brit Pop)
Hometown: Lancaster, California

Magnifier is a Southern California based band whose major influences are The Beatles, Oasis, Cold Play, Radiohead, Verve, and other various "Brit Pop" bands. With their catchy "sing along" choruses and melodic guitars, this group has a sound that will quickly make them well known in the music industry. It's a sound that is on the airwaves today, not only on alternative radio, but in the mainstream market as well. By combining their considerable songwriting skills and musical talents, Magnifier has developed their own special brand of "Rock" with a positive vibe and direction and a distinct image that suits their style and sound.

The band consists of 4 members:
Jon Rhoten - singer / songwriter / rhythm guitarist
Brett Custodio - backing vocals/lead guitar / piano / songwriter
Alex Martinez - bass / songwriter
Bobby Valenz - drums / backing vocals / songwriter.

Magnifier has now finsihed their debut CD "The Space That Binds" with Gary St. Clair, a well-known producer in the music industry. Gary and his knowledge of "vibe" and the importance of a signature sound, has become that extra set of ears that helps to tie everything together. As Jon says "it's always a great advantage to have positive collaboration between an artist and their producer, and we have that with Gary".

The "buzz" in the local scene has been huge and is only getting bigger. With the emerging popularity of Rock, Magnifier has become a favorite not only in the local club circuit, but at the L.A. venues as well. They draw wildly enthusiastic crowds and their performances are always a special event. They have also made a mark on Internet music sites like Garageband.com (made it to the third round), Makeastar.com (champions), and MP3.com (having over 86,000 plays in one year).

Here are some of the reviews:
"In my world this would be on every station. I have a feeling that England would be a more hospitable climate for this tune then America. In America you will be signed to an indi for sure, in England everything is small so you will much bigger by comparison." --Todd Wilkenson (Makeastar).

Promising Talent for you! "wow..super vocals..can be known through out the whole world for that voice...Appealing. The tune has a catchy sing a long part chorus...very good stuff..hope to hear more from this artist or Artists. I think people will want to hear it again...not a bad production/mix..." "A band is born! Right here in the studio. Originally brought in to record some of singer/songwriter/guitarist Jon Rhoten's songs, drummer Bobby Valenz, guitarist Brett Custodio and Bassist Alex Martinez found that, along with Jon, they shared a common love for the "Brit Pop" sound. By the end of the session it sounded like they had played together for years. It was truly uncanny. As they left the studio that night they agreed to get back together and try a rehearsal / writing session as a band. Two weeks later they were back as Magnifier with 10 songs and ready to record a full length CD. It's hard to believe how fast this band has come together and we're proud that it happened here. " -- Gary St.Clair (Imagine Recording)
