Details:
Deemed "One of Colorado's Top bands" by KAFM radio, Mama's Cookin' bridges the generation gap with their unique blend of old and new sounds. With poetic lyrics and top notch instrumentation, the group is able fuse hip hop and R&B with the grittiest of Delta Blues, Rock, Jazz and World beats. Tricia Seeberg of the CB weekly called the group "Incredibly Original" and Cassie Pence of the Summit Daily news said "The Cookin' mixes African and Latin rhythms with hip-hop beats and large doses of blues and jazz to form a simmering world funk sound".
The new album Let The Record Ride is some of the band's best work to date. Recorded in 2003/2004 in Emeryville California and Gunnison Colorado, the album flows from start to finish, taking the listener on a musical journey from Memphis to Guinea West Africa. In fact, it's hard to believe the CD is an hour long it flows so smoothly. The track entitled Mr. Continental, features guitarist Brian Jordan from Karl Denson's Tiny Universe doing what he does best, and there is even a live West African piece included on the album. With lyrics that would make Bob Dylan proud and hip hop beats that will rattle your trunk, Let the Record Ride will make a nice addition to your CD collection.
