Details:
"Born Live" is the debut release by The Mammals. Their newer CD's "Evolver" (2002) and "Rock That Babe" (2004) are also available on CD Baby.

LIVE BIRTH:
In early 2001, Tao Rodriguez-Seeger (grandson of Pete), teamed up with songwriter Michael Merenda, singer Ruth Ungar (daughter of Jay), and fiddler Alicia Jo Rabins. Blending the textures of their varied instruments, repertoires, and influences, they began spreading their motto "TRAD IS RAD" across the northeast.

**This CD documents The Mammals' original four-piece live shows played between February and June of 2001 at the Dreamaway Lodge, WAMC, and the Ludlow Massachusetts Correctional Facility.**

EVOLUTION:
In the fall, the band became a trio with the departure of Rabins, and later a quintet with the addition of bassist, Pierce Woodward and drummer, Ken Maiuri. The current Mammals quintet tours internationally and features Jacob Silver on bass and Chris Merenda on drums.

Over the years, the band has continued to create a strongly grounded acoustic sound that is beautiful, energized, and raw - preserving the timeless appeal of American roots music.

"The Mammals play old-time stringband music the way Jack Kerouac wrote novels - with an abandon born of a deep understanding of structure and form. Their sound is wild, mirthful, and masterful." - Scott Alarik, Boston Globe
