6 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Folk Pop, POP: Delicate
Details:
Marie-Juliette Beer has been best described as: ". . .the lovechild of Anais Nin and Leonard Cohen". With a voice from the dark side of heaven
and a poetic sensibility, Marie rarely fails to mesmerize an audience
with her music and unique presence. She has been compared to such artists
as: Tori Amos, Tom Waites and Leonard Cohen. These influences reflect
Marie's desire to create original, literate, and moving music.
Born in Texas, Marie grew up in Boulder, Colorado where she studied
classical piano and dance. Marie later went on to study dance at the
Juilliard School and Performing Arts at London International School of
Performing Arts.
Marie recorded her first album, The Underworld, on a four track in the
cabin of a ship. This recording brought her to the attention of Dan
Bern producer, Wil Masisak with whom she recorded her second album,
Cherry Tree. In 2002, Marie teamed up with long time friend and musician
Todd Ayers to create The Garden, her most recent CD.
Marie Juliette has played shows and showcases nationally and
internationally. In addition, she has supported such artists as: Crosby
Stills Nash, Joan Armatrading, Tim Finn, Amos Lee and Joe Henry. Marie's
music has also been featured on NPR.
Currently living in London, Marie Juliette is working on the completion
of a new album, due out this Spring.
