Details:
"Life is a journey, with peaks and valleys, narrow roads and dusty paths, and never a clear view of what lies beyond the bend. In a very real way, this album is a collection of conversations I have had with God as He gently moved me forward on that road toward a bridge called surrender." So begins the liner notes for Manuel Luz's new CD, A Bridge Called Surrender, a heart-led acoustic foray themed around his spiritual journey.

Musically intelligent and lyrically evocative, this CD has a piano-driven, organic sound that hints of Bruce Hornsby and Dave Matthews. In contrast, the title cut is a simple but haunting piano ballad which speaks to the struggles of life. Rather than a slick "studio" sound, Manuel chose a group of studio veterans -- Kent Peterson (acoustic guitar), Alvin Henry (drums), and Matt Sawhill (basses) -- to play live to tape. The result is a studio-quality sheen, but with a more immediate, live vibe. Engineering was performed by Ralph Stover whose credits include Charlie Peacock and Brent Bougeois.

In describing this release, Manuel explains, "It's probably the most personally revealing album I've written."

Manuel is a first-class musician with nearly 50 album credits in the independent Christian music scene in northern California. Manuel is currently the creative arts pastor for a church in Folsom, California.
