Details:
Born and raised in Kansas City, KS, grew up in a suburban home full of music. Had some piano lessons at age five, when entering grade school started on the trumpet. Played the trumpet very well all through school until my senior year.
Picked up the guitar as a young teenager, had a few lessons, but never went very far with it. Still play a Carlos 12-string for fun.
Moved to Eugene, Oregon at age 19 by way of a motorcycle ride around the country. Rode an 850 Norton Commando, one of the most powerful machines on the road. Got into logging and worked that profession for 15 years, writing piano music along the way. Bought my first and only piano at age 25 and soon after was telling my logging buddies "I'll be making money with my music by the time I'm 40." Well, I'm about five years late. I don't perform often, but mostly enjoy a quiet evening at home on the piano.
Moved to Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri in 1999 running a small mason business, MJ Masonry, and since have written some of my favorite songs; Storm Watch, Train of Thought and My Wife. This music is very soothing and has a definite effect on rowdy children. I hope Matthew J/Touch of Piano will fill your home and heart with pleasant sounds of music. Thank you and God Bless.
