This hidden talent finally has the city of Houston, Texas taking notice of his vocal and instrumental gifts. New gospel artist André Menefee is making his mark in the new millenium with a blend of original contemporary compositions and traditional, foot-tapping gospel tunes, giving him appeal with music lovers across generations.

André, 32, is currently preparing for the release of his debut recording entitled, "What Can I Do?"

Audiences will experience André's magnificent vocal range, as he demonstrates his mastery of the tenor scale with exuberant tones and a meaningful gospel message to saints old and young alike. His first recording features the background vocals of hometown favorites, the Williamson Singers.

"I think I was nourished into a musical setting as a child growing up", says André. "I've been in church all my life, mostly going to Bible Study, Prayer, Sunday School, BTU, and Nightly Service. I've also participated in many church musicals. I sang my first solo at the age of seven entitled "It's In Him We Live" at the Berea Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. I enhanced my vocals and ear for music while singing in the M. B. Smiley High School Gospel Choir, under the leadership of Bishop Larry Stevens. I also served as Choir President for four years. Our choir was not only locally renowned but likewise nationally. The choir often toured all over the United States during spring break and during our summer vacation.

"André was recently united with his wife Tasheba, a dedicated member of his home church. They have two adorable and active children, Navashae and André Jr. When not working or focusing on his music, André spends time with his family and watching movies.

Gospel lovers await the enthusiastic display of André's gifts with his debut project, set for release in the early 2005.
