In the warmer months, the rivers of Southeast Alaska become a highway for salmon migrating upstream to spawn. The migration route on this particular river takes a course through several lakes. This recording captures the sounds of the area where the river enters one of those lakes deep in the wilderness. The salmon are dense here, and their splashes can be heard throughout the recording along with the sounds of woodland birds and chipmunks. In the distance you can hear the calls of gulls that have taken residence on the lake.
