Biography:
New York's The Mercury Stars is an unlikely blend of influences and styles that shouldn't make sense, but somehow do. Mistaken explorations rather than a concise game plan produce their songs and sounds, resulting in something like New Order's melodiousness draped over the rumblings of Queens Of the Stone Age. Guitar pedals bend and distort, bass and drums push and shove, Wurli-Juno textures drape - all pulsing beneath bittersweet lyrics, creating songs that are a dream-like tapestry of sound.
