Details:
The only thing connecting the MFB of today with the MFB of yesteryear is the name "My Favorite Band." After radical changes to both lineup and style, My Favorite Band has emerged with a sound and look all it's own. The band became complete after the addition of young rocker, Phil Allen. The lineup now showcases a hard rocking, progressive style complete with blazing solos and energetic onstage antics. MFB's style now encompasses a wide spectrum of music including the dirtiest rock, greasiest funk, shiniest pop, and a pinch of that yet to come.
Back in 1998, the seed of the band was planted by two young musical pioneers: Chris Patti and Justin Malik. With nothing but a guitar and a bass, the two immediately started writing songs. After a short while, their goal changed from being a simple garage band, to something greater. Two years later, the band was playing packed shows at popular clubs in California such as The Roxy and Chain Reaction. But something was still holding them back.
In 2002, two long time members, Neal Malik and Adam Plost, both decided to leave the band for personal reasons. This was a time of uncertainty for the band. In the past, Neal had taken control of much of the management responsibilities and without that "father figure," it was unclear how the band would endure.
Elsewhere, around the same time, brothers Francis and Philip Allen had just about called it quits with being in bands. After a chance encounter at a bowling alley, Francis first learned of the existence of My Favorite Band. Once Justin found out that Francis was a skilled drummer, he quickly invited him to come play with the band. After several hours of nonstop rocking, it was clear to everyone involved that MFB had a new drummer. The trio rocked like never before, but still felt incomplete. Francis suggested that his younger brother, Phil, come over and jam. Chris and Justin were immediately enamored with Phil's amazingly skilled guitar playing, and on the spot, they asked Phil to enlist as the final member of Super MFB Phoenix.
My Favorite Band was reborn.
