Leonard Manevich was born in 1966 in Novosibirsk, Russia. Mother, Liliya Manevich, â actress, theater director, stage speech specialist and teacher at the Novosibirsk Theater Institute.
Leonard graduated from prestigious Regional Musical College in Novosibirsk, studied TV production in AlmaâAta, Kazakhstan, and then Journalism at the Ekaterinsburg State University, Russia.
Prior to immigration to the U.S.A. in 1992 Leonard was working for Regional Television and Radio Station in Novosibirsk as journalist and broadcaster. At that time he made his first animated cartoon A STORY ABOUT A LITTLE MOUSE, â wrote a poem, narrated it, created puppets, filmed and edited his story. This cartoon was aired on TV.
In 1992 Leonard and his mother immigrated to the United States where Leonard earned professional degree in TV production. In America Leonard had been working for RTVi Global Russian Television station and continues to work for radio Liberty as stringer as well as for various newspapers. His literary works for children were published by different periodicals, his songs for children and adults had been heard in concerts and on the radio. Leonard and Liliya Manevich recorded a CD of Russian Folkâtales. Creating works for children is Leonardâs main passion.
In 2006 Leonard Manevich released biâlingual (English and Russian) animated cartoon LULLABY for young children made to his own song. Leonard accomplished all creative and technical work just by himself. This work was awarded two First Prizes at two short film festivals in the U.S.
