Some years ago, after a bottle or so of not-so-fine-wine (Santa gets a lot of re-gifts), it occured to me that what Christmas really needs is a high, lonesome country song. For this, I wrote up "Duet with Jesus" based on actual conversations I've had with the man, well, the baby, himself. Some of you may be shocked that the baby Jesus could have a temper but, remember, he's just a baby, the guy I talk with, and don't forget that "expel-the-money-changers-from-the-temple" episode when the guy was thirty-ish or so, the man can wig out, believe me, it's the human side talking when he does that. He gets over it, throws a few miracles around, and he's himself again, ready to spread forgiveness and benevolence even to the likes of a feeling-sorry-for-myself-Santa.
So, I was moaning on about my life, and the baby set me straight, just like he does almost every year. So, that's "Duet with Jesus" maybe a bit strong kind of stuff for the true believing Christians among us, so be forewarned. But it all actually happened and that's my song. Hope you like it!
