Boulder singer-songwriter Mike Hayden says a music teacher once told him he'd be a great musician if someone would just break his heart and bring out some true emotion.
In November of 2003, events in Hayden's life would lead him to begin writing songs that would eventually develop into his debut release, Letters From June. Since its release in March of 2004, Hayden has received acclaimed reviews for his songwriting, and for his debut EP. Letters from June has been sold nationwide through various websites such as CDBaby.com,TowerRecords.com, and mikehaydenmusic.com. In just under 9 months, Mike has sold close to 1500 copies of that independent debut release. In just over 6 months, Hayden has also received over 13,000 plays and over 2, 000 downloads on purevolume.com Though only being on the music scene for less that a year as a solo artist, Hayden has already built a name for himself as a talented songwriter spanning across many different genres including pop, EMO, acoustic, and Indie rock. Since May of 2004, Mike has graced the stages of his hometown of Boulder, CO as a soloist, to playing for packed audiences in nearby Denver. Mike has played at venues across Colorado such as The Bluebird Theatre, Climax Lounge, Rock Island, Larimer Lounge, Club156 and University of Colorado campus stage. Mike has also had the privilege of sharing the stage with acts such as Ari Hest, Anna Nalick, Copeland, Evan Anthem, Limbeck, Melee, and The New Amsterdams.
In December of 2004, Hayden went back into the recording studio to record his first full length with Bendiksen Productions, and producer Joe Turse. With an expected release in the late spring of 2005, "Moments to Memories" is highly anticipated in the acoustic music scene. With powerful lyrics, catchy hooks, and tuneful melodies, Mike covers many different genre styles, but his music can still be enjoyed by all of its listeners Along with his songwriting ability, Mike also uses his punk roots to energize his live show which even more engages his audience in his music.
