Details:
MARY LIZ MCNAMARA - Mary Liz's song "Bacon" won the 2004 Manhattan Association of Cabaret award for best special material, and her song "Haiku" was a finalist for the same award in 2003. Backstage Magazine describes her as "...one part Christine Lavin, one part Randy Newman, one part Beatrice Lillie, and all parts herself." She has performed nights of original music at The Duplex, Don't Tell Mama's and Danny's, in New York, and at The Gardenia in Los Angeles, and was featured at the 2004 Chicago Humanities Festival as part of the ASCAP songwriters' evening. Mary Liz's songs are being sung by cabaret and theater artists across the country, including notably Sharon McNight, who performs an absolutely bang-up version of "Bacon." Mary Liz last performed as an actor in her own play, "Why I Quit the Theater," playing the role coincidentally named "Mary Liz." She is currently working on a musical version of the play and hopes to be considered for the same role.
