Details:
Marianne Murphy, whose album 'No Longer Blue" will be released by Two Good Reasons Records on February 10th, offers up a Christmas maxi-single entitled The Christmas Wish on December 3rd. "The Christmas Wish" is the story of a young girl who is waiting for her father to come home from service in Iraq.
The disc also includes a version of the song by the Little Divas, a Milford,Michigan( Marianne's hometown) based ensemble. Marianne, who works with the girls on a weekly basis,plays piano and directed the group through the recording process.
If that weren't enough, a final track is a Robert Richmond (Ccherokee/Choctaw) contribution in the form of a cover of the Roy Wood pop classic "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday." Given the Richmond treatment with a country-blues groove and his unique raspy vocal styling, the song takes on a new life and is sure to turn heads. Playing with Richmond on the track are Dennis Bellinger on bass (Grand Funk Railroad) and Pat Beeney on drums.
Co-written by Marianne Murphy and Robert Richmond, the recording of "The Christmas Wish" was done in November at Alliance Recording with Al Hurschman at the controls and will be offered up to radio and the public on December 3rd in a limited edition with all net proceeds going to local charities.
