Captân. Blackâs Sea Dogges
Long ago, in the time of Queen Elizabeth, brave men sailed the sea, exploring new frontiers in hopes of making their fortune in the New World. Those that were brave enough to face the dangers of uncharted seas and hostile natives earned the name Sea Dogges. We are just such men. Seafarers that have sailed from the shores of England to the wilderness of the New World. If we happen to sink a Spanish Ship or two along the way, whoâs counting?
You see, we are not Pirates. We are Privateers, boldly riding the waves and exploring new lands in service to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth. Let me repeat, we are Privateers, and we have papers to prove it. Some men still call us pirates. We call them Spaniards.
If you want to know more about who we are, here are some brief summaries of our lives:
The Captain (Eric Williams) â He lives his life by a strict code of honor, strength, duty, and mercy. He is a fair captain, and his men have gained much coin by following where he leads. The women all love him, and the men would all love to be him. Unfortunately, he knows this all too wellâ¦
The Shantyman (Chuck Tinsley) â Roger Barnacle was born into a family of fishermen and fell in love with the sea at an early age. However, he soon found that life aboard a ship was hard work. He also discovered that if he was the one calling out the Shanties, the rest of the men would do most of the work, and that suited him just fine. He is the Captainâs right hand man, and as such, tends to speak a little more freely around the Captain than he probably should.
Diego (John â2 Bearsâ Hernandez) â He is a Cimarron Native from the new world, freed from slavery by Captain and crew. He is the backbone of the Sea Dogges and plays the percussion. Diego is of most importance to the Captain as he speaks and interprets over 76 different native tongues. His degree of loyalty to England and Queen Elizabeth are rare, even among Englishman.
Cookie (Thomas Brentlinger) â Heâs a young lad ladies, and he cooks food fit for a Queen. He has been very newly added to the crewâs complement. Our last cook passed away under strange circumstances. Cookie plays the bodhran and keeps the back-up vocals going. He helps feed the crew and works hand and hand with the ship leech in watching that everyone stays in good health.
Lord John Hamilton (Mark A. Korol-Evans) â -The Quarter Master aboard the ship, he is the high tenor of the shanties. Lord John is the one all the crew visits before leave. This Scotsman also holds the key to the rum stored below deck. He cracks a mean whip and sings an even meaner harmony.
