Details:
Meeting in the small town of Norwalk, Ohio in 1998, Monkey Love was formed with the intention to create a world of music all their own...and to then share it with the rest of the world. This group of talented musicians, inspired by a little plastic monkey, began to do living room recording sessions that would lead to their first demos. While enjoying the response they received within this little town, Monkey Love decided to embrace a more ambitious goal, which resulted in their eleven-song debut. In 2001, Monkey Love released their first public offering entitled "Waiting to get off..." which is a creative display of funky grooves -Killin' Is Easy, Threat, silly lyrics -Serious, The Fair Song, and emotional angst-Didn't I, Know It All.

Monkey Love is Chris Baer-vocalist, Allen Carder-drums, Angel Foss-guitars, Jim Parker-guitars, and Jim Strick (a.k.a. Strick)-bass. Even though it took a few years for this group to find each other, they've had chemistry from the get-go. Chris' writing style is influenced strongly by Sheryl Crow and Alanis Morissette. With the lyrics written mostly from her point of view, she doesn't beg or plead; she questions herself repeatedly and demands a solution. Adding different flare to the songs respectively, Jim tends to throw in some blues whereas Angel leans more towards sultry punk. Strick's underlying bass grooves might seem a bit country here and there, but with some half-time drum magic, Allen takes it somewhere else. Together they have created songs that command your attention, pull you inside, and invite you to sing along. In October 2003, Monkey Love released their second album "Too Close To Home." The title suggests a lyrical exploration through the ecstasy and agony of complicated human relationships; yet also portrays that these talented musicians feel they are still just a little too close to home. Monkey Love now awaits their final destination...
