Sappy doesnât want to die on the streets of Chicago. No, heâs not a homeless drug addict. Been there, done that. Joseph âSappyâ DeFili is the lead singer/songwriter and rhythm guitarist for PRUNO. A Chicago bike messenger by day, heâs had his share of broken bones because of hit and run accidents.

So it should come as no surprise the music Sappy makes with Adam Norden on bass, Joe Camarillo on Drums and A.J. Guba on lead guitar is hit and run as well. Weâre talking two and one-half minute Emo power-punk hooks wrapped around modern urban melodrama snippets. Musical influences include the BuzzCocks, Hank Williams and Brian Wilson.

PRUNO has played for eight years at every major club in the Chicagoland area including Metro, Double Door, Empty Bottle, Fireside Bowl, and the now defunct Lounge Axe. Recently PRUNO has expanded their Chicago fan base by touring throughout the midwest and south and has strong support in Memphis of all places.

PRUNO has sold their self-produced seventeen track first album âHeavy Doodieâ at their shows and on the internet. To date, more than 8,500 sold and zero returns. Tracks from Heavy Doodie did receive moderate airplay on non-commercial alternative rock programs.

PRUNO has just recorded another albumâs worth of material which has now come to be called âGo to L.A.â During their recent visit to Los Angeles there wasnât much time for anything else but recording but PRUNO did manage to hit the Vans outlet, check out the Hustler store, and get mistaken for homeless people on the Santa Monica Promenade.
