Details:
This is my second neo-classical album after the success of my first classical album, "Five Works for 'Cello". This time around, I wanted to do something with my early works for woodwinds and violin, and while I was recording the first three works, I began working on a fouth one that included guitar. Thus, here it is, "Four Chamber Works."

The first four tracks are a duet for Oboe and Bassoon played by William Wordworth, Oboe, and James Lotz, Bassoon, who play in the Cumberland Quintet out of Cookville, TN.

The next three tracks are a duet for Violin and Bassoon played by violinist David Angell, a Nashville session player, and Mr. Lotz on Bassoon. I have had quite a bit of air-play on this unusual combination.

The following three tracks are a Trio Sonatina for Oboe, Violin and Bassoon. There are musical references to Haydn's style, but I use some moderen harmonies and techniques that are not period in nature.

The last thirteen tracks are a suite of pieces called "As Lembrances do Brasil" or "Memories from Brazil" where I spent several years soaking up the wonderful culture of that large and varied country. The titles are in Portuguese and refer to actual events I experienced there - like the title "As Galinhas no Omnibus" or "Chickens on the Bus." I'm not exactly sure what sytle you would call these compositions. The orchestration is classical in nature with references to Vivaldi and Haydn but the harmonies, progressions and melodies are more contemporary - more like Rodgers & Hart with a little Carlos Antonio Jobim thrown in here and there.
