Details:
Michelle L. Smith was born and raised by her mother and father in the northwest section of Washington, D.C. She is the offspring of a multiracial background of African, Polish, French and Cherokee Indian ancestries. She is a mother of three children and a graduate with honors from Howard University. Her Bachelorâs degree was earned in the study of Communications, specializing in radio production. As a returning student, Michelle is currently attending graduate school at Howard University to obtain her Masterâs degree in U.S. History and is expected to complete her requirements by December 2008. As a compassionate and loving woman, her academic and research interests are studying slavery of African Americans in the U.S. and the effects of it.
Working as a medical professional for the past fourteen years of her life, Michelle decided that she wanted a career change in an effort to use her vocal talents to make changes within the white and black communities in the United States and possibly abroad. Michelle currently hosts a show on WKSH Da Beat Radio where she interviews independent artists from various genres of music to get their perspective and insight on current events within the community and around the world. She has produced her first album called, âHave You Seen Gogo,â which was released in 2008. In addition, she is the author of her first book released in 2003 called, Playing Your Game. It is a non-fiction work that talks about the struggles of a marriage relationship and the effects this had on a good strong wholesome woman, herself.
Currently, Michelle utilizes Pro Tools LE 7.0 to produce broadcast quality commercials, drops, PSAâs and docudramas for her clients in which they have her work aired on local radio stations. She also does production work such as mixing and pre-mastering songs for indie artists. Michelle has a great love for music and currently owns an extensive collection of work from the Harlem Renaissance era, jazz from the 1950âs and 1960âs, classic R&B, hip/hop, reggae, pop, gogo and funk from the 1970âs and 1980âs, and more music from the 1990âs to the present time.
Michelle is dedicated to her children and to helping others reach their goals. She also takes pride in any work that she does while at the same time being an independent, resourceful, creative, hard working individual who leaves a positive long lasting impression on others. She is also a strong leader and excellent writer and believes in talking about the realities of social problems while others try to hide them. Michelle is working on academic research that is top secret for now and will share her discoveries when it is time for her to do so.
