A fresh take on classic rock, blending new and vintage sounds.

10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Americana, POP: California Pop

Details:
From relationships ("Used Up," "Contempt") to the journey to becoming a better man ("Friends"), Pete writes about what comes to mind at any given time and place, initially writing straight from the heart.

His second Different Records release Hoopla Jimmy showcases his energy and diversity with a full band. A fascinating mix of old and new creates the style of this recording: a fresh take on classic rock; inventive songwriting blending new and vintage sounds. Pete produced and engineered himself, enlisting Andy Ackland (The Eagles, Bob Dylan) to mix the song "Used Up" and Geoff Tyson (Smash Mouth, Mike Shipley) to mix the rest. The multi-instrumentalist plunged into a series of marathon studio sessions, sometimes logging 20-hour days listening to tracks repeatedly and experimenting with sounds and tones. The result is Munday's fiercest, fullest music-the vocals crisp and immediate, the instrumentation surprising (including mandolin, a 1947 Hammond B-3 organ and a retro space-age Korg synth module to reverse analog recordings). Tom Lehr is on hand turning in memorable guitar hooks and licks. And Munday's own work-on some tracks playing all the instruments-is more fluid than ever.

The band toured the West Coast promoting Hoopla Jimmy with 33 shows from Southern California to Arizona, Oregon to Washington.
