I learned to play a guitar passably late in life. In 1982 my wife Ann and I discovered the Appalachian lap dulcimer at a music shop in Pigeon Forge, TN. We have enjoyed performing locally for churches, festivals, and senior centers ever since.

As time went by some where along the line I became acquainted with the five-string banjo and began tinkering with the old-time clawhammer style. While doing a portrayal of Mark Twain for a few short years, I built a replica of an old-time fretless minstrel banjo used during the 1850s and used it as a part of my act. Presently I am practicing the fiddle to complete the circle so-to-speak.

The past twenty-six years have been most rewarding in that we have enjoyed meeting other folk musicians and sharing our experiences. We encourage others with music ability to join in on the promotion and preservation of old time folk music.

Although I havenât performed professionally with a band, I have enjoyed songwriting over the years. Most the songs I write are gospel, folk, songs for kids, and novelty songs, which Iâve just recently began to put on Cds. Perhaps you may find a few pieces that may brighten your day as well as help preserve the old-time folk song tradition.
