Ronnie Gesser has brought together an incredible mix of talented musicians from the NewYork jazz and session world to create an exciting new collection of all original jazz and Big Band standards.
This talented singer, bassist and composer has released " Throw caution to the wind" with a classic feel and sensibilities but contemporary themes and references. These songs harken back to the days of Sinatra and Bennett and invoke that martini spirit with a touch of lounge lamenting but with quite a unique twist.

"I love the standards. Gershwin, Porter, Mercer and Van Heusen were some of my favorite writers and biggest influences. I've listened and studied the recordings of the great artists from the 30's through the 60's and have been mesmerized and amazed by the music and lyrics, singers, musicians and arrangements. I wanted to do something a little different. Capture the feel and magic of a twenty piece big band and tell my own story with melodies and words".

Recorded live (no overdubs) in 3 crazy days at Clinton studios and RPM studios in Manhattan , it was a lesson in how amazing the old masters really were. They have forgotten more than we know today.
With legendary engineer Neil Dorfsman (Paul McCartney, Bruce Springstien, Sting) at the controls we were able to get the live warm sound I was looking for.

Co-arranger Chris Byars (sax), and the swinging rhythm section of Larry Ham (piano), Dennis Irwin (bass) and Victor Jones (drums) made it impossible not to have fun recording this CD.
