Gender-variant performer Namoli Brennet seeks to deconstruct the beauty myth of Western Culture. As a transgendered youth, Namoli never felt at home in the world of binary gender. With songs like,"Boy in a Dress","Everybody Wants to be You" and "Victoria's Secret", Brennet questions the validity of the two-gender system and the rigid stereotypes that accompany it. A captivating performer, Brennet's voice has been compared to everyone from Amy Ray to Lyle Lovett. Weaving together powerful music with often poetic lyrics, Namoli packs a queer punch. S/he has been featured on This Way Out's Audiophile and is a 2003 Outmusic Awards nominee for best producer.

A Pisces who enjoys long walks, foreign films and Krispy Kreme donuts, Brennet has been described as, "A creative genius", and "A musical prodigy." Admittedly, this is Brennet's own description; still, it's not ENTIRELY inaccurate. Hir music has been described as "Way better than the last CD" (Namoli's Mom, 2003), and "Pretty cool to work out to, except when it makes me cry on the stairmaster." (Anonymous friend, 2003)

Brennet currently resides in gender-friendly Tucson, Arizona. An excellent typist, Namoli once won an award in 9th grade for typing 56 words per minute*. Why this has been included here hasn't been clarified. Needless to say, singer/songwriter Namoli Brennet rocks just as hard musically as s/he does on the typewriter. Or as s/he calls it, "the keys". Whatever. It's still a blazing 56 words per minute.


*sadly enough, this is actually true. But hey, an award's an award.
