Intricately-layered melodic electronica supports this exploration of connection with self, others and spirit, via intimate and hauntingly honest lyrics combined with a healthy dose of energetic tongue-in-cheek rap.

Related styles: POP: with Electronic Production, SPIRITUAL: Inspirational
Details:
Heather began her musical adventures as a classical pianist, deciding in college to switch things up and compose music using a (now-antiquated) keyboard sequencer. At the same time she wrote 3-part vocal harmonies and presented the resulting New-Age/electronic rock music as her senior thesis.
Since then she has ventured into a number of musical areas, including reggae, techno, satirical rap, and Eastern European singing.
Written, recorded and mixed in her home (with the exception of âEnergyâ, mixed by Jeremy Goody of Megasonic Sound), her current album "Becoming" combines all of her creative work prior to this album, and she builds on previous songs with improved production skills.
This album is a lyrical foray into strong emotional events in her life, both positive and negative. Not to miss out on the chance to present more than one style, sheâs thrown in a couple of silly rap songs to keep her listeners on the ball. Her hope is that this album will touch her listeners on a deep level and provide inspiration as well as laughter.
Details on the songs:
Her opening song, âAs Aboveâ (instrumental tracks by Carl Homer) provides a light-hearted view of her understanding of our position in the universe â the deeper meaning of our human experience. âEnergyâ stems from her personal experiences of spiritual connection.
âRitaâ and âMariaâ are intimate and emotional tributes to friends who have died too young. The lyrics speak to both her need to heal through creativity, and a desire to honor the friends who lived passionately and fully.
âFaithâ, âAnd Thenâ (instr. by Carl Homer) and âOver and Againâ (instr. by Steve Heithecker) all stem from her inner struggle with perception of self and life.
âElementalâ and âSteady Courseâ are a display of the silly and in-your-face side of her personality, the side that loves showing off for audiences.
âMoma Tsvekeâ shows her love of a particular style of Eastern-European folk singing.
With any luck, there will be something for each listener to absorb and relate to in this album.
