What's in a name? When it comes to music it's like people and their pets. You know how people say that pet owners look like their dog, or rabbit or lizard? In the same way a musician's name tells of what their sound is like. Think about it, Ray Charles just has a jazzy, bluesy ring to it, David Wilcox sounds like strength, thoughtfulness and complexity made easy by a guy on a North Carolina porch. And while there are exceptions to this rule, (most notably Prince, who can't figure out what his name is while he plays in those skin tight buttless outfits) Nate Allman is not one of them.

If Nate were in movies he'd be a gunslinger in a white hat. If he were a Detroit factory worker he'd be the guy who shares his Cheetos and a warm laugh over a break. If his sound was a politician...well, he just wouldn't make it, he's too easy going.

He's just a guy born in Texas, fortunate enough to have the kind of friends who'd think to buy him a guitar for his birthday. And as the story goes for the last five years it was that gift that has allowed the gift inside to be heard.

And with that gift in full swing you could now say Nate is short for natural and Allman means broad appeal. His first album, Loose Pockets, produced by Brad Corrigan of Dispatch features songs From the Storm and Beautiful Mystery that pose a thoughtful challenge. Dig a little deeper and Aran's Song has the power to bring tears to even the casual listener.

For the last two years, Nate has been a worship leader for a church in the Colorado mountains. His love of music has shaped his songwriting and can be embraced while sitting in a club or in the midst of a contemporary congregation.
