In 2003, Nathan Mayberry arrived on the Atlanta music scene with nothing but a few stories and his acoustic guitar. He played open mics, often seven nights a week, and turned a few heads by winning Z93's songwriter showcase, and qualifying for finals of Georgia Music Industry Association's songwriter contest. To top off 2003, he won the prestigious $1000 Eddie's Attic Shootout in Decatur, GA. Previous winners of this contest include John Mayer, and Jennifer Daniels. To follow up his success, he's currently touring behind his three song demo CD and writing with local artists.
Nathan was raised in North Carolina and began performing at venues such as the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill. His folk songwriter style gained him opening slots with Michelle Malone and the Blue Dogs. After graduating college, Nathan headed for Ireland where he performed in the streets of Dublin for handouts. Lack of sun and support drove him back to the US in 2001. Returning to the south, Nathan moved to Atlanta where his songwriting career found a home.
