The Nativ Stranjerz, carrying on the tradition of groups like The Pharcyde, A Tribe Called Quest, Hieroglyphics and Jurassic Five, have a unique Hip-Hop sound that is soulful, Caribbean-tinged with a touch of jazz. Their beats can rock a party, but H.E.A.R.T Music is also the kind of album you could listen to over and over at home. Their music strays from the norm with energetic and funny lyrical acrobatics. Their new album H.E.A.R.T. Music (Help Earthlings Adapt Rhythimically
Their live show is amazing. Having performed at venues like Muse, The Arena, Nell's, Supper Club, The Acme Underground, The Ghetto Barbershop Tour, Lions Den, Nuyorican Poet's Café, and the now defunct New Music Seminar (which garnered a write-up in Billboard magazine.) They were featured alongside groups like Black Moon, Cella Dwellas, Arsonists, Jamalski, Digable Planets, ADL, The Bush Babees, Supernatural and the Jazz not Jazz Massive.
Their first recorded effort "The Madd Jazzy Flavors 2 Project" (NuBreed) had a single "Addict" which was featured regularly on the Ed Lover and Doctor Dre show on Hot 97, and they also recorded various promos for Future Flavas. It also had regular rotation on college radio shows in the NYC area (NYU 89.1 Martin Moore Show, WKCR 89.9 Stretch and Bobitto.) URB magazine had them on their charts for that entire summer along with other very favorable reviews by RapSheet the street bible at the time and of course the Gavin Report.
After "The Madd Jazzy Flavors 2 Project," Nativ Stranjerz independently released and distributed their "Moodz" EP. The EP sold out at stores like Disc-O-Rama, 8-Ball Records, and Fat Beats. The EP was found on various Mixtapes in NYC and received heavy promotion on the Internet via www.IUMA.COM . On the strength of that EP, they became a fan's favorite on this site and ultimately led the President of IUMA to open the doors for Nativ Stranjerz to his affiliates Listen.com Audiogalaxy.com, Mp3.com and Emusic.com.
Their 3rd effort - H.E.A.R.T. Music: The Fibrillation Project - will be released on the label Sunset Park Entertainment. H.E.A.R.T music is simply music created with the sole purpose of allowing Earthlings a medium to feel 100 Pure Oxygenated Bamboozle Muzik. It is additive free. No deoxygenated samples were allowed to taint it. Be warned: hip hop will be exposed to something it has been craving. The motive: Help Earthlings Adapt Rhythmically Thru Music
Nativ Stranjerz are:
A-LO
A-lo is the producer / lead M.C. of Nativ Stranjerz. He has been rhyming and producing for 12 years and is responsible for their unique sound. Originally from Trinidad, A-lo began his production career as a part of the Trinidadian Hip-Hop group Unity. After winning many local talent contests, A-lo moved to NY and hooked up with Flare in Brooklyn. Having had a chance to meet legendary engineer Bob Power early on his career, his production style was heavily influenced by Power's bass-heavy soulful sound. A-lo continues to produce beats and carry the Nativ Stranjerz musical palate to new levels.
F.L.A.R.E.
Flare has been writing rhymes for 10 years. He lyrical style complements feel and musical direction of Nativ Stranjerz sound. He grew up in the same neighborhood in Trinidad as A-lo and was a natural addition to the group. Never at a loss for words F.L.A.R.E is known for some of the funnier bars. His stage presence is almost legendary complete with the unusual combination of crazy dances coupled with a monotone flow. Fans are always eager to hear him perform.
3. Gooch Lee
Gooch Lee was introduced to the Nativ Stranjerz soundscapes in late 1995. His Jamaican roots have been a great inspiration to his rhyme style. His flow is energetic and changes by the minute. He can rhyme fast, slow, playalistic, or ruffneck. He can even rhyme reggae. Gooch Lee has been known to work a crowd into a frenzy with sex-tinged lyrical word play. The ladies love this Ragamuffin lyricist.
