Details:
"Front Porch Prose"... Picture a bunch of folks (guitar, harmonica, mandolin, stand up bass, and whatever anyone can shake or beat on) sitting around on the Front Porch, playing and singing songs about what makes life worth living. Bluesy pop/folk with that ever present earthy undertone of those warm acoustic instruments... thats Neil Bradley Owen's newest release. Give it a spin! now- From the Beginning... I was born in a small town in Oklahoma, and had lived in 8 different states by the time I entered the 3rd grade in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Dad was in the Space program in the 60's and we moved with the work, and finally ended up in Florida with Boeing during the late 60's when NASA was in it's heyday. I remember going to the Beach at night to watch the Gemini Rockets launch, and how the sky would light up for miles. After about 4 years in Florida we packed again and headed for Seattle, Washington, where I eventually graduated from high school, after just barely missing the Vietnam draft.(see my tune- "Mekong Delta")
I had begun fooling around with guitar in Florida and then discovered I had a voice too, and began to play and sing in bands around the Seattle area. My Dad loved the blues shuffle sound of Jimmy Reed, and I remember he also had a "BB King Live" 8-track that he used to play a lot, so I got a taste of the blues early on in my musical education. I played bad guitars for a few years, then I got a used Gibson J-45 sunburst acoustic, for my high school graduation present. Over the years it has taken a beating but I still play that guitar sometimes while performing. Something about it just feels right. I also play a 94 Taylor and love the warm vibrant tone I get from that guitar. It almost feels alive in my hands.
I began writing songs as a teenager. Most were timid attempts, although I did record one of my very early attempts from the 70's, on my most recent CD, "Front Porch Prose". I continued writing and performing and then put out my first album in the early 90's, called "Just Blue" and got some limited radio play in the Northeast United States where I was living at the time.
My newest release "Front Porch Prose" is the one I've been waiting years to make! I hope you'll give it a listen, and feel free to drop me a note and let me know what you think! All the best to you... neil bradley owen
