WICKED Rap Artist Poised to become the hottest MC in Connecticut to be reckoned with, Anwar Wicked Shakir is making his mark in the rap
game from the ground up. Stepping out onto the scene of hip hop at the young age of 12, this 25 year olds talent was validated at the World Famous Apollo Theatre in 1995. Taking home the top spot during one competitive night in Harlem, Wicked, was signed in no time to Body Bag Entertainment, a Brooklyn based Production Company distributed by Virgin. Spitting rhymes with venom that very few MCs could handle, his way with words were soon categorized with iniquitous smiles that very few MCs can put together. Signing on in 1995 to work on his debut album, Wicked worked with the likes of infamous Mixtape DJ Kay Slay, Jazze Phe, and several others. Soon after his albums completion, label reorganization started and his project was shelved, but not his hustle. Not stopping there, he then hooked up with his Partner, Keith Scott to own and operate their, Diamond Records based out of New Haven, Connecticut. Selling the latest in top selling CDs in R&B; Gospel; and Hip Hop Music, Wicked has also been using the store as his platform to get his music out to Connecticut listeners. Artists such as Fabolous; Angie Stone; Warren G; Obie Trice; Mobb Deep; 50 Cent; Dem Franchise Boyz; Nina Skye; and more have come by the store for autograph signings and appearances to promote albums. Keeping my visibility in the street is extremely important, says Wicked whose rhymes can be heard on the mix tapes of Connecticuts very own DJ Big Mike, New Englands own DJ Kurupt and New York Citys very own mixtape veteran DJ Kay Slay and new comer, DJ L. In early 2005, the city of New Haven and Top Urban Station Hot 93.7 FM honored Wicked for being a Pioneer in Connecticuts Hip Hop Community. Additionally, he was nominated as an Award recipient for the 2005 Justo Mixtape Awards & was currently nominated as an Award recipient at the 2006 Justo's mix tape Awards under the catagory of (Best underground Artist on a Mixtape) Wicked has released over 8 street mixtapes his latest cd Code of the streets vol.3 is hosted by the mixtape Heavyweight (DJ BIGMIKE) Wicked has recorded with hot artists like Dipset's J.R. Writer; Kay Slays new Street Sweeper, Papoose & Big Twin of Imfamous Mobb Deep.
