DARK ELECTRONIC SOUNDSCAPES.
ELECTRONICA FOR THE NON-TRENDY.
13 MP3 Songs
ELECTRONIC: Ambient, ELECTRONIC: Soundscapes
Details:
About 10 years ago, while playing guitar in punk/grunge influenced rock bands, Copelinn stumbled upon something-- a used Yamaha RX-7. His music then reflected his influences: Marilyn Manson, Atari Teenage Riot, NIN, Sonic Youth. It was lo-fi, imperfect and harsh.
"I'd plug in the RX-7 and just record to a cheap four-track. The sound quality was horrible but the songs were reflective of what I was listening to. The sheer level of distortion applied to a broken snare pattern was amazing in retrospect."
That was until he discovered artists like BT, Moby, William Orbit and Brian Eno-- things changed. His musical creation took on a deeper level.
Given the proliferation of the internet at that point, The New Digital was born. Instant street credibilty followed, as well as, airplay throughout the United States, Canada and Australia.
"Everything started out slow, like it would for any band or artist trying to move people. You really can't force people to listen I suppose, but then airplay started coming back and a slew of great reviews in print and online. My sites started getting slammed by people and everything just started to fall into place. I even remember getting an email from a huge radio station in Australia to ask my permission to play a track. Totally blew me away."
This year Copelinn is preparing to drop four new albums on an unsuspecting public.
