Description:
This is the Bootleg series Volume One CD version which coincides with the DVD. The CD offers 4 more compositions than the DVD. Compositions 1 through 8 are from the 12/19/02 rehearsal. Track 9 was recorded at one of the Never Ending Bookstore performances. There are no overdubs, just pure live band interaction. We really enjoy doing these and hope to continue the series with many more wonderful performances!

Ronnie Neuhauser (composer / guitarist) ...
From the eclectic concept CD the "Congregation Against Styrocultural Brain Damage" where Ronnie fuses rock, jazz, funk, avant-garde, spoken word, Latin bits, along with operatic slants and hints of something you might come across in a musical yet more raw, to the instrumental CD "Sweat Hog" with very progressive rock arrangements and funky, jazzy overtones. One might ask where next?
The recently released DVD "Styrocultural Antidote Bootlegs... Styrocultural Antidote Volume One" has some answers. The DVD is a recording of live excerpts from the bands 12/19/02 rehearsal at Ronnie's Studio "The Center for Free Thought" and includes wonderful raw performances of orchestrated moments along with lots of stretching through improvisation.
The Styrocultural Antidote band focuses on Ronnie's instrumental music for trio. The C.A.S.B.D. project focuses on lyrical and instrumental compositions for a much larger more theatrical band. Future projects slated should ensure Ronnie's place in pushing boundaries in orchestration and improvisation through experimentation along with scathing sociopolitical commentary.
Ronnie hopes to record his avant-garde rock opera this year called "Gangr'ear." The opera is completely written. The upcoming follow up Styrocultural Antidote trio CD called "Stupid Like Cow" shows the band really stretching into new areas. Ronnie's new musical theory, which he has been working on for a few years, will show up throughout the CD, and beyond. The "Stupid Like Cow" CD is laced with wild timings, unusual chord changes, metric modulations, multiple tempos, colliding families of sound, and heavy improvisation. Ron is also currently working on a CD tentatively titled "It's all about the Grass." This will continue the trend only more to the extreme, along with the aforementioned fiery sociopolitical observations.
Other projects slated for 2003, and 2004 are videos. One he's working on with wunderkind Paris Mancini is for Liberation From The Jackal from the Sweat Hog CD. Also, a video of a tune called "The Shakespeare Lady (song for Margaret)" about the brilliant actor Margaret Holloway who earned a masters degree from the Yale School of Drama and was stricken with schizophrenia. She is now homeless and performs on the streets of New Haven, CT. Ron also hopes to continue the Bootleg series with compositions recorded in rehearsals and live shows. All in all, we hope the future to be very interesting so come along for the journey!
