Ground-Breaking Music from the Maestro, Papa Wemba, & his Kinshasa-based Nouvelle Ecriture Band. Soukous and Ndombolo at its best. Period.

WORLD: African, POP: Today's Top 40

Details:
Hiroshima the album by Nouvelle Ecriture Cours Des Grand and Viva La Musica (Papa Wemba's two bands 'together for the first time') or the Afro Stars (for the purposes of this album) is a sophisticated infused alternative to the noisy Ndombolo that reaches out these days.
The talented Ocean (one time animator for Koffi Olomide) not only did the programation but also did all the lead animation vocals. The uncontrollable happiness, exuberance and soulful feel of the song one feels, in listening to this groundbreaking album was the personification of his presence.
On the debut of this album all the Paris based Soukous bands clamored for Oceans services as evident from all subsequent albums that followed. Hiroshima style and essence was copied and carried over a thousand times.
The album boasts of the esoteric use of Soukous, Ndombolo, Mapouka with some R&b Funk, plus of course unadulterated old school rhythm to create an original dance-inducing groove. Hiroshima side steps and cuts through the clutter of a genre scene dominated by nonsense yap and chatter. Hiroshima is the type of Congolese music that appeals to one and all. And being a production of Afrisong Records is an assurance of quality good music.
