Neil Gust (ex. Heatmiser co-front man along with Elliott Smith) brings us a guitar-driven rock 'n' roll attack that somehow retains melody and hooks, ensuring that not only will you want to rock out to this album, you'll be boogie-ing and singing too.
9 MP3 Songs
ROCK: 90's Rock, POP: Power Pop
Details:
After the demise of Heatmiser, Elliott Smith continued with his solo career. Co-songwriter and co-front man Neil Gust, still very much into the power of a rock band, formed a new outfit, No. 2, with one-time Elliott Smith drummer Paul Pulvirenti and Jim Talstra (Minus 5, The Maroons) on bass & vocals.
The Northwest Supergroup then toured relentlessly, hitting the road with Elliott Smith, supporting him on his XO Tour. Following the Elliott Smith tour, No. 2 came back home, completed a few headlining Northwest tours, and then left for a national tour with Quasi. After the Quasi tour, No. 2 landed a West Coast tour with Sleater-Kinney and select dates with Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks.
With the release of their sophomore full-length, "What Does Good Luck Bring?", No. 2 plans to once again bring the show on the road. Tours are planned for the winter of 2002 and spring of 2003.
No. 2's debut full-length, No Memory, which featured guest appearances by Elliott Smith and Quasi's Sam Coomes, found Gust delivering a timeless pop gem. With "What Does Good Luck Bring?" fans of No. 2 will get what they have come to expect from the band's live show, a loud, guitar-driven rock record, one that still maintains the hooks and melodic nature of Gust's songwriting, but isn't afraid to let it all go. And, a guest appearance by Quasi's Sam Coomes makes "What Does Good Luck Bring?" even more appealing to fans of No. 2 and Quasi.
Look out, because "What Does Good Luck Bring?" will excite fans of No. 2, giving them everything they want and more. This is No. 2 at their best, rocking out and having a good time, while unleashing a monster melodic masterpiece.
Key Selling Points:
-Front man Neil Gust co-wrote and co-fronted Heatmiser along with Oscar-nominee Elliott Smith
-Guest Appearance by Quasi's Sam Coomes
-Appeals to fans of Elliott Smith, Quasi, and Heatmiser
-Tours planned for Winter 2002 and Spring 2003
