10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Ska, ROCK: Jam-band

Details:
Nomes writes songs that tell stories, pose riddles and flip the occasional well-deserved bird. She sets them in motion with her relentlessly rhythmic piano playing and sends them out into the world with a kick-ass rock band.

In recording Palace, Nomes gathered together musicians that she admired from her local area, Rockland County, New York. She wrote arrangements that would enable them to stretch out and she solicited their creative contributions to the songs' direction. The result is a tapestry of sounds, highlighting wailing guitar riffs and plunging trumpet solos to moody piano rhythms and bluesy organ licks.

The styles and grooves of the tunes are entirely different from one another, from straight ahead funky blues rock to an urban hip hop bossa feel to an eclectic "ska fusion" with a touch of expansive open-air, no-holds-barred jamming.

"I miss albums that take you on a musical journey. The whole album should be an experience, it's not about the individual song, although each song should stand on its own as well. I just wanted to explore all the colors on the palette, and not get stuck in one kind of thing. And in the end, the songs decided where they wanted to go."
