Jeff Edwards has been a bit of a late starter in the music industry, and this is his long overdue first album.
Hailing from West Sussex in the south of England, he is known for his distinctive voice, rich with expression and emotion. Many of his songs are scattered with memorable hooks and cleverly constructed lyrics that tap into the minds and hearts of most, leaving them pondering. I get the distinct impression that he likes to play with minds.
His music has been published on independent A&R collections before, and aired on terrestrial and internet radio stations, accompanied by glowing compliments from the DJâs, such as Paul Williams on the Spirit FM breakfast show. He has also received praise from industry professionals at the Institute of Music Technology in London.
This album is a selection of 15 songs, narrowed down from a collection of over 200 written in the last 5 years. An astonishing fact is that all of these songs were written, recorded and mixed in his own living room. Itâs a blend of styles and paces. An experimental look into the world of his progression along the recording path. Covering the gentle and dreamy in âBlow awayâ and âWhen I growâ, to the pop/indie in âBroadcast fantasyâ. From the multi-style âSo blueâ to the moving and heavy âConveyâ and âUnknownâ. There are many other twists and turns from start to finish. I canât go without mentioning the talents of guitarist Steve Morgan as featured in the title track of the album âSight Or Soundâ. Before you say it. I havenât put too many capitals in the title of that song. Thatâs how itâs meant to be. Just one of the puzzles on offer in this versatile collection.
