The Thornes Trio of Baltimore, Maryland is the ministry of three sisters â Selina Allen, Naomi Mackall, and Elaine Dennis â they are the daughters of the late Bishop Henry and Mother Harriett Evelyn Thornes. The sisters have been singing together for over 43 years. They have recorded five albums and will shortly release their first CD. Each sister is active in their home churches. Selina Allen is a consummate psalmist; Minister Naomi Mackall is the adjutant to Bishop Heber M. Brown, Jr. of the Shiloh Baptist Church of Baltimore County; Elder Dr. Elaine Dennis is an Associate Minister at the Charity Community Church of God with the task of Ministry Leader for the Ministerial Staff.

Singing is a historical treasure that has been granted these women as a result of the godly gifts of both parents. Both parents were gifted singers and their greatest supporter is their mother. The group was introduced to the nation by the late Pauline Wells Lewis of Baltimore, Maryland and adopted by the late Reverend Dr. James Cleveland who produced the albums recorded on Savoy Records. The Thornes Trio was named the âBest Female Gospel Group,â three years, by the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA). They have also received many local commendations and awards. The Sunpaper (a local newspaper) did a feature newspaper article with The Thornes Trio as the cover story. The group has traveled internationally and is excited about the opportunity to continue serving Godâs people. The Thornes Trio was also a part of the choir on the first album (God Gave Me a Song) by Myrna Summers.

God has given The Thornes Trio a heart for the people of God. Their ministry of song includes the traditional hymns of the church and music written especially for them by composers such as the late Reverend Dr. James Cleveland, musician and composer Ricky Alexander, Audrey White, and Minister Mark S. Payne.

The group has a unique melody and a timeless message that Godâs love never fails. They invite men, women, boys, and girls to worship God in a new and living way. Minister Payne has refined the talent, harnessed the energy, and challenged the group to achieve new heights.
