Description:
Improvisational interplay that's relaxing and engaging all at once, taking chances that soar or sour.
9 MP3 Songs
NEW AGE: Ambient, ROCK: Extended Jams
Details:
Hello again! "Jammin' On the Breaks" is our second album since starting this loose-knit project almost six years ago and shows a satisfying growth in both musical development and band members. Obviously we're on a slow trek into the future. We've finally achieved a comfortable plane in jammin', recordin', & performin', although with our hectic personal schedules and the reality of our daily school-bus-driver identities, the chance to make even more music is always out of reach. Thank goodness for vacations, school breaks, or snow days! When we get together, there is an immediate collective dialogue which often works as ideas whiz by, catch hold or keep on going. That's just the nature of improvisation when we roll those wild 'n' wacky dice! It's a big blank page...a long deep breath...a chance worth taking, indeed.
These instant compositions were engineered & recorded by Doctor X [Tim Casey] @ Studio 99 in Roslindale during our holiday vacation, December, 2003 (except the live bonus track from The Zeitgeist Gallery show, which was recorded/engineered by Bill Mason on November 6, 2003); mixed & processed by Dr. X, Rick, & Mr. C. @ Kon Tiki Lounge in Roslindale and Open Hand Studio in Hyde Park through the winter and spring; the tracks were made on a Mac, using Digital Performer/MOTU software to achieve optimum results. All of the selections were performed live by MR. CURT [guitar/E-bow/keyboards/percussion], PERCEL BROWN [basses/percussion], RICK LYNCH [keyboards/samples & programs], BOB McCLOSKEY [saxes/flute/percussion], and JAN WHITE [bongoes/congas/harmonica/percussion], but on a few of the selections we swapped instruments to trigger our curiosity. No overdubs were allowed. This is what it was!
Many thanks to all our families & friends for their love & support; extra thanks to the few experimental rooms that offer encouragement to groups like ours. There's little more to add except a humble dedication to USWA Local 8751: "Safety for Children - Justice for Drivers!"
Our debut disc, "The Later Stages of NOW!" [LBCD-48] is still available from CD Baby.
