I needed a good recording of my songs to play when I got to Nashville. I chose Recording Associates in Portland, Oregon. The engineer of my choice was Mike Moore. I had heard great things about him.

You see, it was Chris who played bass guitar, drums, guitar and most of the vocal harmonies on the session. He was key to a big part of our sound. Of course I also played guitar right along with Chris and sang the lead vocal parts as well. We really had an Everly Bros. kind of thing goin' I thought.

Now in 2005, I took a serious listen to this session again and was blown away by it's great analog sound. The songs were there...they held up beautifully. So had the production. And the most amazing thing of all is that this session had never been previously released! On the day I supervised the transfer done at Northwestern, I really could not believe how cool this session still sounded. After the hundreds of songs I had recorded, this session really held up and had it all! 10 great songs on 16 lush tracks of analog.

The session musicians include: Lew Jones on electric slide guitar and mandolin, Don Wiess on two bass guitar parts and harmonies, Timothy & Francis Tompkins on cello and violin and of course Chris Charles and myself on acoustic guitars. I produced and wrote all of the songs. This is a very warm and acoustic sounding album.
