Maestro Billy Overton keeps the "musicianship...in the music!" He is very unique, elegant and well-rounded as an entertainer.
Overton enjoyed a successful music career in the United States 502nd Air Force Band and United States Navy Steel Band. He studied music theory and trumpet at The Armed Forces School of Music and received a Music Business Scholarship from New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation to study at Loyola University in New Orleans. He studied the steel pans under his mentor Professor Ellie Mannette (Father of the steel pans) at University of West Virginia. He has toured around the world and was the performer at the Percussive Arts Society, and guest performer at the Drum Summit with EARTH,WIND & FIRE. Opening Performer for Mr. Ray Charles. Overton has been featured as a special guest on the ABC Radio Network and has also appeared on BET, Atlanta Gospel Choice Awards and Louisiana Jukebox.Overton has been nominated for The National Endowment for the Humanities and NEA Bess Lomax Hawes awards. Maestro is currently expanding his talents through innovative approaches to music composition for television/ film scoring.
